Overview
The Jabra Enhance Select 700 Hearing Aids promotional site creation was guided by different user interface laws and principles of design. The goal of the website is to educate users on the features and to allow them to see if these are the hearing aids for their needs.
Project Goals
The goals for this project were to provide an effective way to show the different features of the Jabra Enhance Select 700 Hearing Aids, having smooth and easily understandable navigation, and presenting the information in a way that will be memorable for the user.
Process
Project Proposal
To start my project, I began with a project proposal that captured all of the different ways I was going to utilize User Interface principles in my design. In my project proposal, each law and principle has a definition and an example of how I planned to utilize or take advantage of that law or principle. Click the button below to check out my proposal!
User Interface Principles
Fitts’s Law
Fitts’s Law states time needed to click or tap on a clickable object depends on the object’s size and distance from the cursor. I considered Fitts’s Law by incorporating a navigation bar with large, close together clickable objects for each page. Incorporating bigger clickable areas will allow users to be less precise with their clicks and will be able to click their options faster. Additionally, users will be able to click to move to different pages quickly because the page navigation is close together.
The Multimedia Principle
The Multimedia Principle states people tend to learn better when words and pictures are used together rather than words alone. I adhered to the multimedia principle by providing text and images explaining the same information.
Law of Proximity
The Law of Proximity says items that are close in distance are perceived as a group in the user's mind. For the “Features” page, each feature's name, image, and description are placed close together; making each feature perceived as separate groups.
Final Prototype
For my final project, I created an educational promotion page for the Jabra Enhance Select 700 Hearing Aids. The prototype is broken down into 4 main pages that contain essential information about the product. The "Home" page is where the user lands when investigating the product to access main information. The "Features" page contains all of the main features of the hearing aids with informative graphic. The "Compare Specs" page compares the Enhance Select 700s and the Enhance Select 300s. Finally, the "Where to Buy" page lists all the places where the user can get the product.
Retrospective
While completing this project, I not only enjoyed making the project aesthetically pleasing, but ensuring that the material I was providing could be useful and memorable to the user. As someone who spends a lot of time tending to their grandparents, doing this project and learning more about hearing aids has helped me a lot in my personal life. I truly look forward to applying what I have learned from this project to future projects and life in general!
